The Conference is an initiative that will give artists, activists and academics the opportunity to have an intimate interactive experience with technology, art, music, social justice, and community. We will stage new conversations using media to address the role, images, and treatment of women in Hip Hop. We will critique and disrupt status quo narratives and present investigations about value systems and structures of violence and human value, the politics of aesthetics, and women of color. Taking place June 16th through June 19th 2016 in Detroit Michigan, our goal is to provide resources and tools to women identified artists, producers and individuals involved in the hip hop cultural industry. Primarily centered on women, the conference can be attended by any individuals involved in the hip hop cultural industry or wanting to know more about it.
